Characteristics
During the complex renovation of the Prunéřov power plant II, three old boilers were dismantled and new ones were installed. The old boilers - ones of a 12 x 30 m ground plan - were hung via ropes to the auxiliary bridging lattice structure and, by means of hydraulic rams, they were gradually lowered in two parts. On the floor of the boiler room, they were then divided by hydraulic shears and flame into transferable parts. For the suspension of all three boilers, more than 90,000 m of tendons of a strength of 1,860 MPa were used. The new boilers were lifted using heavy hydraulics, 22 rams were used for each boiler.
Exceptionality of the structure
An innovative approach to the dismantling and assembly of boilers of the Prunéřov power plant enabled the use of modern “heavy lifting” technologies instead of use of heavy mobile cranes and a creative approach to the use of existing structures. The technology has been certified under utility industrial design protection and an application to the patent office has also been submitted.
