Characteristics
The expressway project located near the centre of Warsaw saw the reconstruction and extension of a section of the expressway passing through the city and included 59 engineering objects, of which there were 46 bridges, including the650 m long General Stefan Grot-Rowecki Bridge over the Vistula River. The expressway is connected to the local network using, among other things, extremely complex road interchanges. Extensive noise measures were also taken.
Exceptionality of the structure
The bridge serves not only for transport, but also for water mains and steam pipelines, and is located in the Natura 2000 protected area. In the urban environment, apart from relocations and modernization of utility networks, bike paths, noise attenuation walls, public transport facilities and traffic light signals, the environmental requirements were also taken into account.
