Uniqueness of Structure
The reconstruction of the entire area, including the demolition and construction of new halls, took place while the depot was in operation, and its service facilities had to remain available. The construction schedule had to be shortened by almost a year due to the drawing of subsidies. All this required demanding phasing of construction work and precise coordination of all activities. The depot has an automatic track construction system (automatic switch setting). One of the investor’s main requirements was also met, namely the shielding of residential buildings from the noise of the depot’s operations. Compliance with noise limits was generally a matter of course. The project also included the reconstruction of the adjacent Slovanská alej street.
The entire depot is designed with a blue-green infrastructure concept based on the principle of responsible rainwater management. It includes not only a green roof and a tram wash, but also an irrigation system for watering the vertical green parts of the buildings.
